Christmas & New Year's

Eric had a great trip to China and Japan for work.  While he was away I really didn't have too much time to blog, or really do anything but work and take care of Dylan.  My mom came for a few days to help which was great, but we really missed Daddy being here.  Of course the day before Eric was to return, I got the flu...the stomach flu.  My mom had already gone home and here I was with a crying baby and a bucket.  Oh fun!  Eric got home the next day and I was feeling lots better, but he too had a fun run with the stuff!  So, he missed work and was miserable just days before Christmas!  Finally on the 24th he was starting to feel better, but still not eating much.

Here he and Dylan are having a little fun playing Santa and elf :)

Then we were off to church for the early service.  Dylan played the role of Baby Jesus!  He was a great baby Jesus, kept chewing on Mary's hand but was pretty relaxed the whole time!  There was a reporter from the Journal Sentinel that came and took pictures.  She must have taken a hundred pictures during the service.   One of the angels was on the front page of the Journal Sentinel on Christmas Day - so cool!

After church we had people from church over at our house for a festival of crepes!  Yum!  It was great fun and Eric made amazing crepes. We got a quick family photo by the tree, cleaned up (thanks to Laurie's family for all the help!) and then I headed back to church for the late service.

On Christmas morning.....Santa came :)  He brought Dylan some fun blocks with different shaker sounds.  Dylan also got a fun outfit from China that Daddy brought home.  We went to church in the morning and my mom and sister met us there.

After church we came home and opened more presents...
Auntie Angie made Dylan a cute bunny who is now named "AJ" by daddy.  Grandma Pearl made Dylan a quiet bag for church with a book and toy to chew on....  Dylan also got a "pilot in training" t-shirt from Grandma Pearl for when he is bigger and some other fun things...
We made an easy egg bake and relaxed for a while before Angie and Grandma went home.

We saw almost all the cousins and kids from Erica's side on the 26th.  Cousin Nora is just a month older than Dylan...  They had fun together while Nora's Mommy and Dylan's Daddy held them.  Later Dylan played the piano....

Then Daddy had to go back to work since he was so sick the week before he had things left to finish.  While he was at work one day, cousin Becky and her daughter Ella came by for a quick visit.  Ella really wanted to sit in this seat!  '

After all that we were exhausted and cancelled plans to travel home to Luck and St. Croix Falls.  Dylan was tired, we were tired and needed some time for us....  we hope to travel and see everyone in January for a short time and then more time when the weather isn't quite so cold!!! BRRR!!!
We spent a family day together at the EAA Museum.  Daddy has been excited to show Dylan all the planes!  Dylan really liked the wall of propellers!

For New Years Eve we went to a friends house and today, New Year's Day, we went to another friend's house for Krautfest!  It is a more than 50 year tradition in her family that on New Year's Day you eat saurkraut for good luck.
When we got home I took a few more pictures of Dylan on his first New Year's.  Such a cutie!
